Run AutoSSL and Force HTTPS

How to Run AutoSSL and Force HTTPS

All FavoHost accounts include a free SSL certificate provided by AutoSSL. While it usually installs automatically for new domains, this guide shows you how to run the tool manually and then force your site to use a secure https connection.

Part 1: Run the AutoSSL Tool

1. Log in to your cPanel control panel.

2. Go to the "Security" section and click on SSL/TLS Status. You can also find it by typing "SSL" in the search box at the top.

3. On this page, you will see a list of your domains. Select the checkbox next to the domains you want to secure, or check the box at the very top of the list to select all of them.

4. Click the Run AutoSSL button. The process may take a minute to complete.

5. Once it is finished, the page will refresh and you will see a success message and a green padlock icon next to your domain, showing it is now secure.

Part 2: Force Your Site to Use HTTPS

After the SSL certificate is active, you should force all visitors to use the secure connection. This will ensure the padlock appears for everyone.

1. Go back to the main cPanel page.

2. Find the "Domains" section and click on Domains.

3. In the list of your domains, find the Force HTTPS Redirect column and turn the switch ON for the domain you just secured.

Important Note for WordPress Users

If you're running a CMS like WordPress, it is also important to set the "WordPress Address" and "Site Address" in your wp-admin area (Settings > General) to use https://. This ensures that all your images and files load over a secure connection. A plugin such as "Really Simple SSL" can also help you do this automatically.
