How to Install WordPress with Softaculous

 

Softaculous is a powerful tool included in your cPanel that lets you install hundreds of popular applications like WordPress with just a few clicks. This guide will walk you through the simple process of installing a brand new WordPress website.

 

Step 1: Find the Installer

 

1. Log in to your cPanel control panel.

2. Go to the "Software" section and click on WordPress Manager by Softaculous. You can also find this tool in the left-hand sidebar or by using the search box at the top right of the page.

Step 2: Start the Installation

 

3. On the WordPress management page, click the blue Install button to begin.

Step 3: Fill in the Details

 

4. Software Setup

- Choose Protocol: Select https:// from the dropdown menu.

- Choose Domain: Select the domain or subdomain you want to install WordPress on.

- In Directory: Leave this field empty to install on your main domain (e.g., yourdomain.com). If you want it in a subfolder (e.g., yourdomain.com/blog), type the folder name here.

Choose Version: It is always recommended to install the latest version available.

5. Site Settings & Admin Account

- Site Name & Description: Enter a name and a short description for your website. You can easily change this later inside WordPress.

- Admin Username: Choose a secure username. For security reasons, do not use "admin".

- Admin Password: Create a very strong password. You can click the key icon to generate one automatically.

- Admin Email: Enter the email address you want to use for your main administrator account.

(Important: Write down your username and password in a safe place!)

6. Select Plugins & Language

- Select Plugins: You can optionally select some helpful plugins to be installed along with WordPress from the lists provided.

- Select Language: Choose the default language for your WordPress installation.

7. Advanced Options

You can click this to expand more settings, but for most users, the default automatic settings are perfect. You do not need to change anything here.

Step 4: Complete the Installation

 

8. Scroll to the bottom of the page. You can enter your email address in the box to receive a copy of the installation details.

9. Click the Install button.

10. The installation process may take up to a minute. Once it's done, you will see a "Congratulations, the software was installed successfully!" page.

11. This page will show you two important links: one for your live website, and one for your WordPress Admin Login URL (it will end in /wp-admin/). Click the admin link to log in with the details you just created.
